"January Sun," acrylic paint, ink, oil stick, spray paint on canvas.

The tension between light and darkness

The work evokes the ambivalence of January: the sun exists, it is there, it illuminates—but it coexists with the cold, the shadows, the chapped skin of winter. I am not trying to resolve this tension; I am staging it head-on, the yellow advancing like an affirmation in a space that still resists.

The splashes: life despite everything

The free and accidental splashes of blue paint contrast with the rigor of the rectangles. They suggest something unpredictable and alive... rain, or simply the persistence of movement in a frozen season.

In short, "January Sun" does not paint the sun as a symbol of warmth, but as an optical and emotional phenomenon: an intense, geometric, and distant light that stands out against the dark background of the heart of winter.
