This small format on Arches paper is inspired by the music I listen to in my studio and more particularly by the new British Jazz scene that is currently developing in London. (even if I used "Bristol"! artistic freedom)
This work explores a dynamic mix of geometric shapes; textures and bright colours; which evoke the energy and improvisation of jazz thriving in the British capital.
Bright Colors and Contrasts: Orange; bright blue; black and white hues create visual tension that draws the eye.
Mixing lines and textures: Thin black lines add an element of structure; while more organic textures; especially in the orange areas; add a freer and more expressive dimension.
The title of this composition directly evokes a link with jazz music; and the visual composition graphically translates the rhythms and variations found in this musical style.
