This work on paper by Patrick Piccinelli evokes the visual dialogue between interior and exterior. Piccinelli has always been interested in the image in the image. A window opening onto a landscape is a permanent framing of an ever-renewed image (because the landscape changes due to the weather and the seasons). But this title and this work also speak to us of the inside and the outside in a metaphorical way. Painting is the interior expression of the painter offered to others; exteriorized in a way. The window is thus for painters both a frame; a separation; and the point of continuity between inside and outside; “the privileged place where the cohesion of space is made visible” (Isabelle Monod-Fontaine).
