The green square bears an inscription legible upside down — FABIAN M... September 13 – Nover — which is an exhibition document turned inside out, pasted into the work like a layer of reality. This detail anchors the painting in a collage practice and signals that the cross is not merely formal: it is also constructed through the accumulation of heterogeneous materials, layers of time and meaning. This work evokes my interest in culture.

In short, Blue Cross is a work that fully embraces its title while simultaneously subverting it: the cross is there, blue, geometric — but it is also splashed, fragmented, stretched by its own contradictions. The simplest symbolic form of the Western world becomes here a pure problem of painting.
