There is something particularly moving about waiting for dawn. The light can be guessed to finally gently invade the landscape. This passage from night to dawn fascinates Piccinelli as a visual artist.
The arrival of dawn is done in silence and sweetness. A new day is about to be born; for the painter it is a visual metaphor for the creation of a new work.
Each dawn offers new shades from blue to pink passing through orange or from blue to white disturbed by the gray of the mist.
This work on Arches 300 gr/m2 paper is a triptych made with pigmented ink.
"In the increasingly clear air
still sparkles this tear
or low flame in glass
when the mountains sleep
rises a golden vapor
Remain thus suspended
on the balance of dawn
between the promised ember
and this lost pearl"
Philippe Jaccotet; "Airs"; poems 1961-1964; in Fin d'hiver; no 5; Paris; Gallimard editions (1967)
