The title of this work refers to my Italian origins. the chromatic composition is a tribute to the Italian flag. When I finished this painting; I didn't have a title yet. But almost immediately; a memory came back to me while looking at the canvas. I saw myself again in Rome; I was an art school student and I was visiting the city with my fiancée who became my wife. I had been fascinated by the orangery of the Villa Borghese; which was a small museum of modern art which displayed a sublime little sculpture by Henri Moore. This Villa dates from the Renaissance; and we could see ancient busts in the magnificent garden. This temporal mixture is so characteristic of Rome! As I finished this painting; I knew I had to connect it to this place!
