This work on paper is sold unframed. The red and pink trace is made from a monotype (single print).
Holding "3 Cherries in One's Hand" evokes an image of something small; precious; and perhaps intimate. Cherries are often associated with sweetness; summer; and simple pleasures. The title imbues the work with a sense of lightness and restrained joy.
The transition from pink to red in the lower band should be seen as a metaphor for maturation; evolution; or different phases of an emotion or idea. Pink represents youth and innocence; while red symbolizes passion; energy; and maturity.
The title "3 Cherries In My Hand" transforms an abstract composition of red squares and spots into a work imbued with meaning. I invite the viewer to go beyond literal representation to explore the symbolism of color; form; the creative act; and emotion.
