There is a paper version of this painting (private collection; Atlanta; USA).
For me; the right chromatic tuning; the balanced composition are to be compared with a musical composition in jazz. When the musicians improvise and they invent a music never heard before but which speaks deeply to the listener.
This work on paper evokes the visual dialogue between the inside and the outside. I have always been interested in the image within the image. A window opening onto a landscape is a permanent framing of an image that is always renewed (because the landscape changes due to the weather and the seasons). But this title and this work also speak to us of the inside and the outside in a metaphorical way. Painting is the inner expression of the painter offered to others; externalized in a way.
The window is thus for painters both a frame; a separation; and the point of continuity between the inside and the outside.
