This work on paper evokes the winter landscape. Sometimes the snow totally covers the landscape and all you can see are white; gray and bluish shades. But the snow can also give a glimpse of plowed soil. These textures are found in the abstract painting of Piccinelli. These minimalist abstract "landscapes" are also influenced by the great American painter Robert Ryman known for his formal and rigorous exploration of monochrome painting. This pictorial work by multiple more or less thick layers also evokes the passage of time; the nostalgia of past days; a kind of happy melancholy. In this work on paper we also find the visual dialogue between the geometric structure and the random elements such as traces and splashes.
