I painted this canvas on a frame assembled by my assistant in the workshop. An "Arles" type canvas in cotton was stretched and prepared with 2 layers of gesso and a layer of titanium white acrylic.
The intense; darker orange surface is coated with a high-quality; glossy acrylic varnish. In the clearest of summer; I watch the day come gently from my workshop. The first light of dawn is like the soft notes of a cello that awaken sleeping nature; while the sky gradually blossoms evoking the promise of a day to come; these are the moments of the day which I prefer to paint.
In this summer metaphor; the dawn embodies hope; possibility and renewal.
It is an invitation to embrace the light; to welcome the opportunities that present themselves with an open heart.
Thus; to contemplate the day that is dawning is to seize the present moment with gratitude and wonder.
