With this composition Patrick Piccinelli is interested in the notion of full and empty. The square at the bottom right is "full" and moreover is traversed horizontally by an informal black trace extending beyond the limit of the square. The white square is "empty" but partially closed by the orange line. This visual play with limits intentionally interferes with the minimalist geometric structure set up in this composition. The sensitive rendering of traces and spots contrasts with the homogeneous ultramarine blue and white and light gray flat layouts.
