The graphic area, with its improvised and informal meanders, engages in a dialogue with the colored geometric surfaces.
This way of drawing "without a safety net," without planning the final result, is very close to the improvisation practiced by jazz musicians. It's a type of music I listen to, particularly contemporary jazz from the 1970s to the present day.
The geometric composition, with its precisely defined contours, is analogous to the rhythm and structure of a jazz piece. And it is with this mindset that I draw, with the freedom of an improviser.
In the colored area, I covered the indigo blue, red, and cyan blue on the left and right with a layer of titanium white, thus softening the geometric composition while still allowing it to show through.
Titanium white, Prussian blue, cobalt blue, indigo blue, light cadmium red, black paint marker.
