I created this artwork using acrylic paint and a unique monotype print.
The tones evolve from deep red to bright pink, then to softer shades of pale pink, suggesting the different phases of cherry blossom.
The lower section, with its expressive gestures and splashes, evokes movement and transience. These pink and red gestural marks symbolize falling petals, carried by the wind—that fleeting and melancholic moment at the end of the bloom.
The small splashes reinforce this impression of petals taking flight and settling delicately.
For me, contemplating cherry blossoms is a blend of beauty and melancholy in the face of passing time.
