This work is a tribute to my Italian roots. The colors of this composition evoke Palermo and the sublime nuances of the frescoes in its historic palaces, as well as the crumbling walls of its working-class neighborhoods.

The grid of nine squares, with its semicircles and arcs, evokes Sicilian tiles (maioliche), the rose windows of the Arab-Norman cathedrals of Palermo and Monreale, and the geometric rigor of Sicilian Baroque architecture.

With this work, I have evoked a territory through its colors and structure, without ever representing it—as if Sicily were less a place than a chromatic and rhythmic sensation etched in memory.

The reds of Sicily are a blend of nature, tradition, and passion: the earth, the sky, and the products that tell the story of an island full of character and history, a deep red, laden with symbolism.
