This abstract work, titled "Round About Midnight," establishes a dialogue with jazz, and particularly with Archie Shepp's interpretation of Thelonious Monk's standard.

The blocks of color (black, olive, bright orange) are organized like rhythmic sections, interspersed with white spaces that act as silences or musical breaths.

The dominant dark colors evoke the midnight atmosphere of the title, while the vibrant orange emerges like a saxophone solo. This tension between shadow and light reflects Archie Shepp's playing, known for its expressive contrasts and emotional intensity.

The splashes and drips recall abstract expressionism, but also the spontaneity of jazz. Like Shepp, who reinterprets and deconstructs standards with his bold phrasing, I deconstruct pure geometry through spontaneous gestures, creating a tension between structure and freedom.
