This small format on Arches paper is inspired by the music I listen to in my studio, particularly the new British jazz scene currently developing in London. (Even though I used “Bristol”! Artistic license.)
This work explores a dynamic mix of geometric shapes, textures, and bright colors, evoking the energy and improvisation of jazz in full swing in the British capital.
Bright colors and contrasts: The shades of orange, bright blue, black, and white create a visual tension that catches the eye.
Mix of lines and textures: Thin black lines add an element of structure, while more organic textures, particularly in the orange areas, add a freer and more expressive dimension.
The title of this composition directly evokes a connection with jazz music, and the visual composition graphically translates the rhythms and variations found in this musical style.
